Effects of Nursing Ethics Education on Bioethics Awareness and Critical Thinking Dispositions of Nurses

Abstract

This study was done to identify the effects of a nursing ethics education on bioethics awareness and critical thinking dispositions of nurses enrolled in RN-BSN program at a university in Korea, and to find ways to improve nursing ethics education. The research was done in a one group pretest-posttest for a quasi-experimental study. There were statistically significant differences among pre and post in the bioethics awareness, and among sub-region, abnormal pregnancy, childbirth and maternity denial factor were highly significant. On the contrary, no statistically significant differences were found in the critical thinking dispositions. Therefore, in further study, it is necessary to develop the curriculum and teaching strategies for improving nurses" bioethics awareness and critical thinking dispositions.
